The virtual Pokémon Go Fest 2020 from Niantic took place from 25th-26th July. It was the first virtual event in contrast to the physical events when considering the history of shows that Pokemon hosted. The event drew a larger number of players who collected a billion of Pokémon.

The event was attended by millions of Pokémon fans around the world namely 124 countries and areas. Nearly 55 million gifts were sent to each other during this event and everyone walked 15 kilometers on an average.

Niantic also announced that it would contribute more than $10 million to U.S. non-profits that will help urban cities recover from the pandemic strikes. In response to the COVID 19, the Niantic has led players to catch creatures from a distance to maintain social distancing.
