Final Fantasy XIV has announced free game time for players as developers continue to resolve the server congestion issues.

There was much anticipation and eager waiting for the early access of the latest Final Fantasy XIV Online expansion Endwalker. However, over the weekend, payers had been unable to log in, and were even greeted with error messages due to massive server congestion issues, across all the regions.

As a result, Final Fantasy XIV director and producer, Naoki Yoshida, took to a blog on the official community site to apologise to the players, providing them with an explanation about the congestion issue and the countermeasures and compensation for the same.

Yoshida elaborated that “Currently, all Worlds across all regions have been hitting the login cap for extremely long periods of time, and the progression of login queues is being slowed dramatically. Across the FFXIV service as a whole, the number of simultaneous logins has reached the hardware limit, and as a result, logging in has required an extremely long time, especially during ‘peak hours’ when we tend to see increased player activity”.

In order to compensate for these ongoing issues, Yoshida and his team have decided that “during the official release of Endwalker on December 7, we will be granting 7 days of free game time to all players who own the full version of the game and have an active subscription. This also includes players who are currently playing on the 30-day free play period included when registering the full version of the game and those with multiple accounts”.

Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker Will Be Officially Releasing On December 7, 2021

Further in the blog, Yoshida elaborates on all the errors and the error messages that players may have encountered, under these circumstances. He also elaborated on the possible reasons as to why these errors were occurring. You can read the entire blog, by following this link.

Naoki Yoshida and his team’s dedication towards Final Fantasy XIV is indeed admirable. Earlier, as well, he had personally taken to a blog on the official community site to apologize for the delay in Endwalker’s release date. The level of transparency and the team’s commitment towards the game’s community is indeed a refreshing change and seven free days of game time is indeed very welcome.
