DICE’s Head of Design Fawzi Mesmar is leaving the studio following the launch of Battlefield 2042.
Battlefield 2042 launched on November 19, 2021, and since then it has been making the headlines. And for the most part, it has been making the news, for all the wrong reasons. However, developer DICE did address some of the grievances of the players and have assured them of some major updates (read more on that here).
Fawzi Mesmar Is Set To Leave DICE, Following The Release Of Battlefield 2042
Mesmar’s departure for DICE was revealed via an email that was sent to the staff this week, reports VGC. “It was an absolute pleasure to serve on the best design teams in the galaxy”, Mesmar wrote, further stating, “The incredible design work that you do continues to inspire me every day. Thank you for putting some faith in me, I hope I didn’t disappoint”.
Mesmar states that he had been given an opportunity to work at another company. And he simply could not deny it. He also mentions that his new employer was kind to wait for him and let him ship Battlefield 2042. He explains that, “It was super important to me to be here with the team as we achieve this historical milestone”.
Mesmar had been I discussion with DICE Studio Manager, Oskar Gabrielson, about the former’s succession plans for a long time. However, they wanted to delay the announcement of his leaving till after Battlefield 2042 launched as they wanted the team to be focused solely on shipping this tentpole release.
EA confirmed Mesmar’s departure from DICE, by telling VGC that, “Fawzi Mesmar is leaving DICE at the end of the week. We wish him the best in his future endeavors”. Mesmar will be staying in Stockholm, Sweden for his next role.
