A programming based, incremental style idle game, Bitburner has you playing as an unknown hacker in the World Wide Web. The player has to steal, hack and script, in order to pave their way to the top of this world. Undoubtedly, this is one of those idle games that actually lets you spend your time in a more productive manner!
Anyone can start their journey on Bitburner. A basic background in programming, although recommended, is not an absolute necessity to start playing the game. As it proceeds, the player is presented with questions and programming puzzles that actually that not only allows them to earn rewards and proceed further in the game but also learn useful new skills.
As the player journeys deeper into the dystopian world of Bitburner, they will find new factions they will be able to ally with, new people and networks to infiltrate. Players can also collect cyberpunk augmentations, to boost their body and network, to develop their character stats as well as take their network to higher end levels.
As a player goes deeper into Bitburner, there is a vast GitHub repository of markdown that will help them to proceed further into the game. On beating it once, there is also provision for the players to get extra bonuses and rewards for their future runs as well! And to add to it, the game’s community is extremely helpful, in case you get stuck somewhere.
Bitburner developed by Fulcrum Games and Hydroflame, and published by Fulcrum Games released on Steam on December 11, 2021. Drawing from games such as Uplink, Else Heart.break(), Deus Ex and Hacknet, the open source programming, hacking sim , “after 5 years of development, contributions from hundreds of developers”, is available on Steam. The game is also available as a web app on github.io.
