Girls Who Code, A Charity Organization Ends their Partnership with Activision Blizzard!

Girls Who Code, a non-profit charity organization who work to support the work place equality ended their partnership with Activision Blizzard. Recently, after the news that broke out of Activision Blizzard’s CEO knowing the sexual misconduct claims within the company since 2018. Alongside, he also threatened to have his former assistant killed.

In a report by the Wall Street Journal alleges that Activision Blizzard’s CEO Bobby Kotick was informed that a female employee had been raped in 2016 and 2017 by a male supervisor. The victim reached out for out-of-court settlement but Kotick did not tell Activision’s BOD (Board of Directors) anything about this incident.

Girls Who code partnered with Activision Blizzard in year 2018 in their Summer Immersion Program. The company has been working towards their mission to close the gender gap in tech and has successfully distributed resources to over 200 million people worldwide. In their statement they stated; “following recent revelations about allegations of assault, harassment, and a toxic work environment throughout the company, we have decided to end our partnership”. “The news about Activision proves that our priorities fundamentally misaligned. We cannot in good conscience to work with a company that is so antithetical to our own values” they added.

After the allegation on Bobby Kotick, shareholders and over 1700 employees has called for him to be fired from his position. However, Activision Blizzard has announced that Kotick will maintain it’s position.
