The profits earned in August 2021 by the global gaming market crosses that earned in August 2020 by a margin of 8.6%.
With the rise in cases of the Covid-19 pandemic, global lockdown restrictions being enforced by governments across the world, there has been a rise in the number of people who have resorted to video games. This in turn has also in turn contributed towards significantly increasing the revenues of the video games industry.
PUBG Mobile Becomes The Top Revenue Earner In The Global Mobile Gaming Market
The mobile game industry has seen a significant rise over the recent years. The quality of their offerings has also improved greatly. More and more gamers are taking to mobile gaming. This is clearly evident in the revenues being raked in.
The highest amount of revenue came in from the USA, almost $ 2.1 billion or about 28% of the total players’ spending. Japan comes in in the second position contributing towards 20.8% of the total players’ spending. China comes in next with 17.5% of the total players’ spending. It must be noted here that Google Play Store is not available in China.
Unsurprisingly, Tencent’s PUBG Mobile became the highest grossing mobile game for August, 2021. Gamers have spent a total of about $ 270 million on the game. This amount is almost 4.7% more than in August 2020
The most amount of revenue for PUBG Mobile, about 61.4% of the total earnings, came from China alone. The game was localized as the Game For Peace in China. The USA came in second with 9% of the total earnings. In the third place comes in Turkey with 6.5% of the total earnings.
