GTA Trilogy The Definitive Edition Remains Unplayable On PC More Than 24 Hours After Launch- Inner

For good or for bad, we finally have the GTA Trilogy that almost all of us have been waiting for, for quite some time. After months years of anticipation, wait, fake rumors, Rockstar Games have finally released the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy: Definitive Edition.

The GTA Trilogy features some of the most iconic titles from Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto series of video games, namely Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto Vice City and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. Now, while there had been a lot of anticipation for the much awaited release, there have also been a lot of buzz, post the release, as well. A little over a day since its release, and to sum it up in a word or three, it has been messy and riddled with problems.

Following its launch, the GTA Trilogy has been the subject matter of memes aplenty. And while many have been reporting the problems that they have been facing with the ports, the most disgruntled amongst the lot, and quite correctly so, are the PC players. As of now (at the time of writing this article), the games were still not available to play, via the Rockstar Games Launcher, which is how PC players play games by Rockstar Games.

Hours after the launch of the GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition, problems began for the PC players. Rockstar announced via a tweet from its official Rockstar Support Twitter account, that “Services for the Rockstar Games Launcher and supported titles are temporarily offline for maintenance. Services will return as soon as maintenance is completed”.

The GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition Released ON November 11, 2021

While the nature of the maintenance is still not clear it seems pretty obvious that it must be something that might very well be related to the launch. Now the problem being here that the Rockstar Games Launcher is used for accessing all of the PC games that Rockstar has to offer. Now that has left quite a few disgruntled PC players.

Following this, another discovery has been made. Many have noticed, since the Rockstar Games Launcher was taken offline, that Rockstar has also removed the GTA Trilogy; Definitive Edition’s PC version from its storefront. Earlier, Rockstar’s storefront had the PC version listed alongside the Xbox, PlayStation and Switch versions of the game. However, as of now (at the time of writing this article), the PC button remains missing.

Rockstar Support has since posted a tweet from its official Twitter account stating that, “The Rockstar Games Launcher is now online, but GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is unavailable to play or purchase as we remove files unintentionally included in these versions. We’re sorry for the disruption and hope to have correct ones up soon”.

Rockstar’s ambiguity on the issue has majorly been the cause of the frustration amongst players as well as prospective buyers. Moreover, the three titles included in the GTA Trilogy which were earlier available on Steam individually, had earlier been removed from there by Rockstar prior to the release of the GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition.

For now, we can only remain hopeful that the issues, whatever they are resolved soon or Rockstar Games throws some light on what they are, thus placating the disgruntled PC players. In the meanwhile, you can still check out the GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation® 4, PlayStation® 5 and Nintendo Switch, as of now.
