‘Haunted Chocolatier’ has been revealed to be the next title from the Stardew Valley maker.
The man behind Stardew Valley, Eric Barone, better known by his alias ConcernedApe, has announced his next game and it is titled Haunted Chocolatier. From the first looks of the game, it is evident that it will be expanding on the formula that drives Stardew Valley. However, unlike its predecessor, this new game will be having “magical haunted ghost chocolate” and a more fantastical setting.
While at the current stage of development, Haunted Chocolatier looks to be virtually quite identical to its predecessor, the developer himself hasn’t yet clarified if this new game would be a sequel to its predecessor or even if it would be set in the same world, or not. So far, Barone has revealed that the new title would be an action RPG/simulation game. And in some ways, this game would be quite similar to its predecessor. He says that while Haunted Chocolatier too will be a “town game” like Stardew Valley, its themes and gameplay would be setting it apart from the later.
It is still early days, but, so far, it is evident that this new game will be similar to its predecessor in several aspects. The game’s announcement trailer exhibits the meticulous and elaborate animations and pixel arts that is a signature of ConcernedApe and is being carried forward in this new title as well.

'Haunted Chocolatier' Gameplay Trailer
On the game’s website, Barone explains “Chocolate represents that which is delightful. The haunted castle represents the allure of the unknown. The ghosts represent the imprint of the past. All of these things are important. However, don’t think for a moment that, because this game features ghosts in a haunted castle, it is an evil or negative game. On the contrary, I intend for this game to be positive, uplifting and life-affirming. However, if Stardew Valley mostly channeled the energy of the sun, Haunted Chocolatier channels the energy of the moon. Both are vital”.
As per Barone, Haunted Chocolatier has been under development for almost a year. However, so far, he is not ready to talk about a possible release date or even a release window. In the game’s website, he states, “while the video I put together may look like the game is at an advanced stage of development, there is still a ton of stuff to do. And the way I work, things often don’t come together until the final moments”.
Like Stardew Valley, Barone is singlehandedly working on the initial development of the game and he will be publishing the title himself, when the time comes. Speaking of the possible platforms the game could release on, in the game’s FAQ Section, he states that at this stage, he is a hundred per cent sure that the game will be releasing on the PC.
