Recently, Microsoft released companies financial update where they revealed that Minecraft had nearly 140 million monthly active users. In Microsoft’s TranscriptFY21Q3 (Financial Update) which was mostly about “clarifying items to aid investors in further understanding the company’s third quarter performance in addition to the impact these items and events have on the financial results.” He also explained that Minecraft creators have generated over $350 million from more that 1 billion downloads of mods, add-ons, and other experiences in Minecraft (excluding activities outside Microsoft’s marketplace.
CEO Satya Nandella said, “Over a year into the pandemic, digital adoption curves aren’t slowing down. They’re accelerating, and it’s just the beginning,”.‘’ As games evolve into metaverse economies, we are building new tools to help anyone sell creations on our platforms. Minecraft had nearly 140 million monthly active users, up 30 percent year over year, making it one of the leading platforms in the creator economy. Creators have generated over $350 million from more than one billion downloads of mods, add-ons, and other experiences in Minecraft. This is not including activity outside our own marketplace. We’re also seeing a vibrant marketplace emerge in Flight Simulator, with partners now able to sell content directly within the game.”
The report also mentioned that the average player in North America and Europe are 27 years old and more that half of kids aged 9-11 in same continents. Also, Minecraft: Education Edition saw a 150% increase in the number of players year over year. And overall, the company reports to have summed up a revenue of $41.7 Billion (19% up from 2020).
