According to a report, Sony will reportedly be continuing the production of the PS4, all through 2022.
The claims made in the report suggest that the production for the PS4 consoles will be continuing in the face of the scarcity of the PS5 consoles in the market. According to the report, this is chiefly because the chips required for making the PS4 consoles are far less advanced to manufacture than the ones required for making the PS5 consoles.
Over the course of the past year, there has so far been no mention or reports of the scarcity of the advanced chips that are necessary for the manufacturing of the current gen consoles. Both Microsoft as well as Sony, however, still continue to struggle to meet their manufacturing targets, caused by the constraint of the scarcity of the components required.
Reports Claim Sony Will Continue Making The PS4 Consoles All Through 2022
As of now, there has been a short supply of both the standard as well as the disc less version of the PS5 consoles, all over the world. This shortage in supply has further been complicated by the scalpers that routinely pound on the retail listings and sometimes even make use of bots to circumvent the long queues to snap up the PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles, regularly.
However, this shortage has not stopped the PS5 consoles from become Sony’s fastest selling PlayStation console of all times. It was only in July, 2021 that the company had announced that the sales had crossed over ten million units in just a matter of 248 days only. The console thereby broke the previous ten million milestone record that was previous held by the PS4 console.
