STEAM which is most popular digital video game distribution software for PC. In their recent update, they have made much more stricter guidelines to prevent players who were abusing regional pricing.
Steam allows developers to sell their games on different pricing depending on where the purchaser or more users are located. This was done to scale-up each game’s price to a match income in different countries throughout the world. In a developed country, $60 may not be an amount users resist to pay but meanwhile there are other countries where their wages do not allow them to do so.
A huge number of users were then manipulating this where they were posing to be on other location where the prices are comparatively low. This leads to loss for developers and Steam as well. In their recent update, they have spotted this flaw and now changed to where a user can only change their respective county once in 3 months and should pay by their regional cards only.
Will they add more regional currency ? Are the price of games going to be spiked-up by publishers ?,
These are few amongst many questions users are concerned about and are not waiting for Valve to address them all.
