Celebrating 35th Anniversary of Dragon Quest on 27th May, Square Enix revealed upcoming line-up in this series. Developers held a live broadcast which was revealed by the games’ designer Yuji Horii and it included details of Dragon Quest XII, including its full title of Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate. The games franchise if based on an anime series named as ‘Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai’ and is said to be on every platform i:e arcades, mobiles and consoles.
However, there were no teaser or trailers in the livestream and only a logo was showcased. This left some fans unsatisfied from the steam. But, Yuji Horii did gave some insight stating that the game’s turn-based battle system will have some changes and the game will have a ‘darker tone’ to it. Alongside, they reveled that Dragon Quest 3 is being remade in 2D-HD and will be a worldwide release. A new mobile puzzle game was also shown off, titled Dragon Quest Keshikeshi (which translates to Dragon Quest Erase-Erase). It’s a match-three puzzler and is only confirmed for Japan at the moment.

Previously named as ‘Dragon Warrior’ and published in USA, Dragon Quest is a JRPG created by Yuji Horii. Publisher Square Enix ported and made remakes for Nintendo DS, 3DS and Switch. there are many manga, anime and novels published under the franchise with nearly every game in the main series having a related adaptation. The game was first released in 1986 and it’s latest release of ‘Dragon Quest Tact’ was released on 16th July 2020.
