Vanion, a much loved European World of Warcraft fansite has decided to call it quits. For the past eleven years, the site has provided content material ranging several blogs, guides and other relevant information, all surrounding the widely popular massively multiplayer online video game franchise. Vanion.eu confirmed the news that he would not be posting any further World of Warcraft related content.
Following the sexual harassment lawsuit that was filed by California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) against the continued discrimination and harassment of female employees at Activision Blizzard, the company has been facing the repercussions. Following the lawsuit, several shocking facts emerged. The gaming community came out in support of the victims. This has led to many of them from withdrawing from games such as World of Warcraft and Call of Duty amongst others.
World of Warcraft Fansite, Vanion, to Shut Down?
Talking about discontinuing the fansite, they state that with all that is going on and Activision Blizzard’s way of dealing with the situation they find it difficult to support World of Warcraft. They also state that with the emergence of several other MMORPG, the developers must look into adding elements that add value to the game. They feel that their apathy towards opinions, lack of honest interactions with those that regularly play the game has led to the gradual decline in the game’s quality.
In the announcement they state that while the website will keep running, since there was so much hard work that was involved behind building it up and the volumes of information that it has. However, no new information relating to World of Warcraft will be posted there. They also state that while it has been a wonderful eleven years the game isn’t the same and hence the decision to discontinue.
