It has been more than a decade since the last main title Age of Empires game was released. Therefore, the excitement surrounding the release of the latest game in the franchise, namely, Age of Empires IV was palpable. Since the first announcement of the project in 2017, players of the game have been waiting to get their hands on this new title.
Taking to their official Twitter account, the company announced that the game is now live for the closed beta testing and invitations have been extended to a select few members of the Age Insider program, via emails. This round of beta testing will run from August 5, 2021 to August 16, 2021. For members to be eligible for this round of testing of Age of Empires IV, only those enrolled with the program before August 3, 2021, will be considered. So if you had enrolled to the program after August 3, 2021, you will have to wait for the next round of testing.

It was announced that for this phase of beta testing will allow the testers to try out the tutorial mission, several maps of varying sizes and biomes and regular matches. These matches will allow players to play with up to eight human and/or AI players. And four of the eight civilizations that will be available at the launch will be made available. The civilizations available will be Chinese, Mongol, Delhi Sultanate and English. Although only a handful of players got access to the beta testing program, it has been noted that several players will soon have access to copies of Age of Empires IV over the next week or so.
