In a celebratory news from the developers of Biomutant, Experiment 101’s parent company Embracer Group confirm that the game has sold over 1 million copies. The game was released on May 25th 2021 and later as the quarter ended in end of June 2021, it was confirmed that the game has sold 1 million sales including PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
Embracer said in their quarter report; “The main revenue driver in the quarter was the release of Biomutant from our internal studio Experiment 101”. “So far, the game has sold more than one million copies.”
Alongside they also stated; “The full investment into development and marketing as well as the acquisition cost for Experiment 101 and the IP, was recouped within a week after launch.”. Which means, they recovered the funds for development of the game as well the cost of acquiring Experiment 101 along with Biomutant IP.
This was a surprise to many as the game received mixed reviews and had a lot of bugs when launched. Though the gameplay and storyline were good, some reviews states the game as ‘a wasted potential’ & ’ overly ambitious mechanics and dull combat’.
